Obituary of Veronica R. Kincaid

Bolton Landing: Veronica “Ronnie” (Ryder) Kincaid, 65, died suddenly in the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 23rd at her winter residence on Chokoloskee Island, Fl., the Everglades. Born January 11, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Henrietta Ryder, as well as her surrogate parents Robert and Inez Russell. Ronnie graduated valedictorian of her 1962 class of Bolton Central School. She retired from the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation after 35 years work as payroll clerk; equipped with the ability to multi-task many projects over those years she simultaneously worked part time at the Diamond Point Post Office, bought and ran a family business with her husband; The Corner Market in Bolton Landing for 11 years, as well as doing the paperwork for Trout Lake Masonry for 18 years. An avid fisherman, she was the catch of a lifetime; married on Valentine’s Day 1964 she is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Daniel C. Kincaid of Bolton Landing. In her younger days Ronnie loved to ice fish but in keeping her husband in-line and happy she gladly traveled to the warmer climates, spending six months of the year for the last eight years, watching beautiful sunsets waterfront on Chokoloskee Island. Ronnie enjoyed cooking and growing her own vegetables and her tomato plants would climb 4-5 feet high, she enjoyed collecting sea-shells and crafting her personal collection of shell creations, she enjoyed exploring the country with her husband and loved playing with and watching her grandchildren grow. Ronnie played ‘Mexican-Train’ dominoes almost everyday on Chokoloskee Island and organized and put-on a bingo game every Wednesday night with 15-30 people in attendance; Ronnie and her husband Dan were the life of the party, always entertaining the crowd. Ronnie was optimistic with a contagious laugh; a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend Ronnie will forever be remembered as the most loving, generous individual who cared for others with all of her heart. Besides her parents and surrogate parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Beth Younes and a son-in-law, Wayne C. Rich Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Anna K. Rich and her companion, Robert Marlow of Hadley Luzerne, her son Barry R. Kincaid and daughter-in-law Barbara Kincaid, as well as her grandchildren, Amy L. Rich and her sweetheart, Lt. Michael Crane of Hampton, NH, Wayne C. Rich III and his sweetheart Marcia Wilbert of Buffalo, Samantha L. Kincaid, Courtney J. Kincaid, Tyler D. Kincaid, Tristan P. Grover, all of Bolton Landing and Kimberly Pratt of Warrensburg. As well as seven of her siblings, sister Floriene “June” (Ryder) Curren of Bolton Landing, brother William “Billy” Ryder of Gansevoort, brother Gary and wife Teddi Jo Ryder of Bolton Landing, brother Leroy and wife Doreen Ryder of Bolton Landing, Raymond “Bub” Ryder Jr. and wife Catherine of Sarasota, Florida, and Wayne L. Ryder of Bolton Landing. Brother-in-law Russell and wife Jan Kincaid of Alexandria Bay, brother-in-law Lee and wife Ronalee of Bellingham, Wa., sister-in-law Janet and husband George Benoit of Schenectady, cousin-in-law Charlotte Poisson of Weare, N.H., and good friend Jerry Cahill of Beacon N.Y. and Piketon, Ohio, whom she called her “second son.” Some of Ronnie’s closest friends from work; Laurie Converse of Warrensburg and Penny Bennett of Queensbury and her closest friends from Chokoloskee, whom were all by her side when she passed; Margret Johnson of Paulding, Ohio, who Ronnie started a thrice-weekly exercise group with, Chelle Austin of Fayetteville, Tennessee who visited with her dog ‘Woo’ that Ronnie fed and played with every morning, Linda Schoonover of Chokoloskee Island, Florida who she gardened with daily and Rick and Pat Dietz of Elyria, Ohio who Ronnie and her husband traveled homeward with in April of every year. As well as many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many other relatives. Friends may call on Ronnie’s family from 5-8 pm, Wednesday, December 1st at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be conducted 10:30 am, Thursday at the funeral home with Sister Loretta Somerville, officiating. Burial will be for immediate family only in the Bolton Rural Cemetery, Bolton Landing and all others are encouraged to gather at the Bolton Conservation Club on Edgecomb Pond Road following the service. Any food donations may be dropped off before hand at the Conservation Club. In lieu of flowers please contribute donations in Ronnie’s name to your local E.M.S. squad and at the family’s request; PLEASE get yourself checked regularly at your local physician.
