Obituary of Nina M. Smith

Nina M. Smith, 87, formerly of Community Road, passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany following a long illness.
Born November 9, 1923 in Thurman, she was the daughter of Clarence and Inez (Dow) Russell.
Nina married Clifford E. Smith on Jan. 12, 1948 and the couple resided and raised their family in Schenectady.
Clifford passed away on Jan. 12, 1991 after 44 years of marriage.
She was a longtime member of the former Broadway United Methodist Church in Schenectady and her favorite pastimes included quilting, sewing, gardening and reading.
Besides her parents and husband, her sisters, Judy Roberts and Florence Cason, and her brother in law, Richard Ross have all predeceased her.
Nina leaves behind her two children, Gary Smith and his wife, Sue of Porters Corners, Theresa Smith of Schenectady; her sister, Bernice Ross of Crown Point; her brother in law, Lee of Alexandria, VA; two step grandchildren, Kim O’Connor and her husband, Leigh and Robert Boyce; two step great grandchildren, Tyler and Lauren O’Connor and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Nina’s family from 10 am – 12 pm Friday, Dec. 3 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 12 pm Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sharon Sauer officiating.
Burial will be in the Reynolds Cemetery, Thurman.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Diabetes Foundation.
