Obituary of Rebecca A. Hitchcock

Athol: Rebecca A. “Becky” Hitchcock, 62, of Drexel Rd., passed away unexpectedly, Friday, May 25, 2012 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born May 22, 1950 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Joyce (Cameron) Baker of Athol, and the late Floyd C. Baker, Sr. Becky was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Warrensburg Central High School in 1968. Becky began her working years with 1000 Acres and Sittin Bull Dude Ranches and went on to work in the insurance division with various companies including, Hudson Headwaters, MVP, Partners Insurance and Conifer Park Rehabilitation Center. Becky was currently serving as a town board member in Thurman. Becky’s favorite pastimes included going for rides with her beloved husband, Bob, cooking and baking and spending time with her grandchildren and family and friends. Becky will be missed by all that had the honor of knowing her. Besides her father, she is predeceased by a brother, Leon Floyd Baker, her first husband, Walt Sparks, and brother-in-law, Steven Smith, Sr. Other than her mother, survivors include her beloved husband of 19 years, Robert Hitchcock Jr. of Athol; her children, Nina Joyce Pollic & her husband, Larry of Ballston Spa, and Jason F. Sparks and his wife, Tabitha of Gainesville, FL; her step-sons, Jack Crossman, Rob Hitchcock, and Walter Sparks; brothers, Leonard Baker and his wife, Lisa of Athol; Steven Baker and his wife, Carol of Athol; Floyd “Chuck” Baker, Jr., and his wife, Lynne of Kingsbury; sister, Deborah Sue Collignon and her husband, Douglas of Athol; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her aunt, Irene Hall of Warrensburg; uncle, Albert Baker of Thurman, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friend’s may call on Becky’s family from 3-6 pm Tuesday, May 29th, at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 6pm Tuesday, at the funeral home with the Rev. David Newkirk officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801 in Becky’s memory.
