Born on September 11, 1912, in Bolton Landing, he was the son of the late George and Kate (Tripp) Hill. Ellis married Elsie Winslow on July 15, 1939. Following Ellis’s military service during WWII, the couple settled into the old school house on Schroon River Rd., where the couple remained for 50 years, until moving to Oak St. in 1989. The three things Ellis was most proud of included serving as Sergeant in General George Patton’s 3rd Army. He was awarded the American Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, European African Middle East Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WW II Victory Medal, with five major battle stars. Being very proud of working first as a carpenter and later as the Construction Superintendent for Charles R. Wood Enterprises of Lake George for 30 years, his last major project being the international village at the Great Escape was the second. Last and most important was his family being his greatest achievement. As well as the loving care he gave his beloved wife, Elsie, for her many years of illness and the love and compassion toward his family. He was a member and lifetime trustee of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church. Ellis is predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Elsie, who passed away on August 18, 2006. His sisters, Beatrice and Marguarita Pratt, and Julia Kissinger and his brother, Reginald Hill, and brother in law, Lawrence Winslow have also predeceased him. Hill Jr. of Warrensburg; two great-grandsons; Tristen and Wyatt Hitchcock of Olmstedville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including his nephew, Murray Pratt and his wife, Joann of Zephyrhills, FL; sisters in law, Irma Winslow of Warrensburg, and Muriel Winslow of Corinth.
