Obituary of Merrill E. Inzerra

North Creek: Merrill E. Inzerra, 64, beloved wife of Joseph L. Porco, of State Rt. 28, passed away, Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Creek following a long illness. Born May 25, 1945 in Newburgh, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Edna (Olson) Inzerra. Following her high school graduation from Newburgh High, Merrill attended Skidmore College and Adirondack Community College. She married Joseph L. Porco in 1969 and the couple resided in the Town of Johnsburg the majority of the time together. She worked for Barton Mines Corp. in North River, Travelers Insurance Co. and JC Penney both of Queensbury before taking ill. Her favorite pastimes included music and reading history. She enjoyed volunteering with the Outreach, pre-school program. Survivors besides her husband, Joe, include her daughter, Christina of Johnsburg; her step mother, Louise Inzerra of Newburgh; her two sisters, Louise Fern and her husband, Anthony of Newburgh, Elizabeth Nelbach and her husband, Arthur of Cornwall; her two brothers, Samuel Inzerra and his wife, Patricia of Fort Pierce, FL, Philip Inzerra and his wife, Lorraine of Shelton, CT; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Merrill’s family from 5-7 pm Saturday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 7 pm Saturday at the funeral home with Sister Francesca Husselbeck officiating.
