Obituary of Walter E. Osbahr

Bolton Landing: Walter E. Osbahr, 83, of South Trout Lake Road, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born January 17, 1924 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Bernard and Emma (Reimann) Osbahr. “Oz” served in the US Army from 1943-1946 as a member of the “Sea Raiders” 534th Engineering Regiment, spending the majority of the war in the South Pacific. He retired in 1985 from Consolidated Edison as manager of operations in Westchester County after 39 years of service. He and his wife then moved to Trout Lake Club, where the family had enjoyed many summer vacations. Oz became well known as an electrical handyman to his friends and neighbors. In earlier years, Oz was an active member of the Hicksville United Methodist Church, serving as trustee. He participated in a number of fraternal organizations including Manetto Lodge 1025 F&AM, Warrensburgh Lodge 425 F&AM, Warrensburg Chapter 325, Royal Arch Masons, Scottish Rite, Oriental Shrine, Cortland Odd Fellows and the Masonic War Veterans. Oz was predeceased by his only son, Peter William in 1974. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen (Planche) Osbahr of Bolton Landing; his two daughters, Tracy Osbahr and her husband, Robert Pariseau of Pelham, MA, Margaret Noirjean and her husband, Robert of Woodbury, MN; his grandchildren, Dana Arnaboldi and her husband, Keith Mahoney, Chris Pariseau, Jen Pariseau, Tamara Sander and her husband, Kelly, and Timothy Noirjean; great grandchildren, Nick and Cate Mahoney. A Masonic service followed by a memorial service to honor Oz’s life will be conducted 11 am, Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Bolton Landing with the Rev. Carol Ames, Pastor officiating. There are no calling hours scheduled. It was Oz's request that his body be donated for medical research. The Osbahr family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Bolton Rescue Squad, Bolton Landing, NY 12814 in Oz’s memory.
