Obituary of Gilford E. Fuller

Warrensburg: Gilford E. “Peewee” Fuller, 72, of Potter Brook Road, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born March 21, 1939 in Warrensburg, he was the son of the late Leon and Freyda (Hall) Fuller. He married Caroline A. Ball on June 1st, 1958 and the couple enjoyed 53 wonderful years together. Gil attended Warrensburg Central School, and began working for Warrensburg Board and Paper in 1958, where he remained as an electrician and welder until 1971. Gilford was an avid deer hunter and even worked as a hunting guide during his youth. Gil established Juniper Swamp Kennel Supplies in 1971, producing dog collars and leads, selling them at beagle dog trials while competing his own dogs and creating several field champions. His pet supply business included a distributorship for “Joy” Dog Food with territories covering southern Vermont and upstate New York/ Canada. His son Greg worked with him for ten years. Later, Gil became a supplier for Pete Rickard Inc. of Cobleskill until the time of his stroke in 1998. Gil attained the highest level of amateur Ham Radio licensing available using the call letters, N20HV for many years communicating all around the world. Recently, he did more with photography, creating hundreds of beautiful photos and sharing them with others. He and his wife were active members of the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Jean Winslow; his niece, Cara Lynn Breault; his nephew, Frank Winslow; and his father in-law, Rev. Stanley E. Ball and mother in law, Reva Mae Whipple Ball. He is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline Fuller of Warrensburg; his children: Gregory Fuller and his wife, Linda of Queensbury; grandchildren: Joshua Edward Fuller, Jennalee Caitlin Fuller, and Jaleesa Ashlee Fuller; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Gil’s family from 6-9 pm, Wednesday evening at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Additional visitation will be at 10 am, Thursday in the Narthex of the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, 250 River St., Warrensburg with funeral services to follow at 11 am with Rev. Richard C. Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery. Gil’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful nurses of the Critical Care Unit at Glens Falls Hospital, Serena and Erica for the compassionate care they gave Gil during this difficult time.
