Obituary of Ida G. Harrington

Glens Falls: Ida G. Harrington, 88, of Haskell Ave., passed away peacefully Monday, August 22, 2011 at her sister-in-law’s home in Warrensburg, where she had been residing for the last five years. Born January 29, 1923 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late John and Zarrif (Abbott) Ackary. Ida was a lifelong resident of Glens Falls and married Gail E. Harrington on September 13, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Glens Falls. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by beloved husband of 45 years, Gail, who died in 1997; her son, Gail John Harrington died in 1977; sisters, Susan, Susie, Sarah, and Dorothy; and brothers, Samuel and Theodore Ackary. She is survived by her sister, Mary Waldron and her husband, Richard of Utica; brother-in-law, George Thomas of CT; cousins, Sophie Hanas of Glens Falls and George Ackary of Jacksonville, FL; four nieces, two nephews, three great nieces, three great nephews, two great grand nephews, and one great grand niece. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law and caregiver, Alice Ackary of Warrensburg, as well as several cousins. Friends may call on Ida’s family from 12:30-2 pm, Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Radloff Funeral Home, 136 Warren St., Glens Falls. A funeral service to celebrate Ida’s life will follow the visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Lucy Harris, Pastor of the Warrensburg First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will take place in St. George’s Cemetery, South Glens Falls. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society.
