Darling Dodie, I’m sure he’s sailing free with a smile on his face, but my heart wrenches at the pain of your loss. Love will do that, I guess. Spike was a generous soul with a vibrant laugh. He enjoyed life, was good to others, and oh my, how he adored you. Safe, home, Spike. Love, meredith

I just heard today about Spike...I have such fond memories of spending time with Dodi and Spike and one of my favorite quotes (of all time) was when I was apologizing to them both for ranting on about the environment after drinking perhaps a bit too much wine and...Spike said:" Not to worry, Nash, in a room full of drunks, you did not stand out...!" What an intelligent warm man...God bless him and his family.

Such sad news. My heartfelt condolences to Dodie and the rest of Spike's family. I grew up with Spike. We lived two blocks apart in Montclair, NJ, and I was born three months after Spike in the same hospital. Our younger brothers were also contemporaries, and the four of us had great fun together in our youth--sharing adventures, no small amount of mischief and all the wonderful experiences of childhood, unsheltered as it was in those days. My dad, although a businessman, was also a dedicated outdoorsman and loved to go on hike's on weekends. He would often take the four of us for outings. What great adventures those were. My brother, Allen, visited Spike a few years ago and told me that Spike had said to him that some of his fondest memories from his youth were of the outings with our dad. We had a summer cottage on Cape Cod, and the Kunz family would occasionally rent a cottage for a couple of weeks in the same town, South Chatham. We shared a love for those wonderful sun-drenched summers spent swimming and fishing in Nantucket Sound. Although contemporaries in high school and at Cornell, Spike and I eventually drifted apart. I moved to California to take up the practice of law. Nonetheless, we stayed in sporadic touch, and my wife and I visited with Spike in 2016 in Diamond Point. It was a lovely moment for both of us after all those years. Goodbye old friend, Hank Massey

My deepest sympathies above all, go to Dodie, who knew and loved Spike better than anyone else. Beth, I am so very sorry. Your father was a generous and loving man who left an indelible mark on you and your family. I was blessed to know him a little, for a short time, but not enough. He is already greatly missed.

It was not JUST that we had Cornell in common. We were friends from the start because of his warm inclusive personality and a daughter who graduated from Franklin and Marshall also. From sailing to dancing to dining to many special evenings at his home and the Lake George Club, Spike will be in our hearts and minds forever. Of course there was one difficult moment when David fell into the cockpit during a sailing race, but we were still on his "friendship" list.

Dear Dodie, I knew you and Spike from Mohan’s where I worked for several years. I am so sorry about Spike...he was a very lovely man. He tried to be very patient when I would discuss diabetes, being a diabetic myself. As my son would say, “shut your pie hole”‼️(Referring to me, of course) So Marshall and I offer you and your family our sincere condolences at this sad time for you. RIP Spike. Love, Sue Levine

I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your dear loved one. It's during these times we need comfort from the scriptures. Psalm 34:18 tells us that "God is near to those that are broken at heart." You have the assurance from God that you can see your loved one again. "There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”- Acts 24:15. Then you may be able to rejoice with your loved one again forever, "This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ " -John 17:3.
