Obituary of Ralph R. Reichenbach

Bolton Landing Ralph R. Reichenbach, 80, formerly of Bolton Landing, passed away, Sunday morning, July 2, 2006 at the Ft. Hudson Health Care Center in Ft. Edward following a long illness. Born November 6, 1925 in New York City, he was the son of the late William and Elsa (Geithe) Reichenbach. Ralph served his country as a US Marine in WW II, where he was wounded in battle on Peleliu Island and awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He went on to re-enlist for a total of 20 years with the Marine Corp. receiving many decorations for his expertise as a Diver and Diving Instructor, as well as his duties as an Air Traffic Controller. He retired from the Marine Corp with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He was a life member of the Bolton Landing American Legion Post 961, the First Marine Division Association of NY and a life member of the China Marine Association. Besides his parents, his two sisters, Greta and Mona Reichenbach; three brothers, Lee, William and Richard Reichenbach; nephew, Jesse DiCiccio; sister in law, Lorraine Reichenbach; brother in law, Herb Bass have all predeceased him. Survivors include five sisters, Margaret Bass of Nampa, Idaho, Rita French and her husband, Ross of Bolton Landing, Lois Robinson of Queensbury, Dawn DiCiccio and her husband, Nuccio of Diamond Point, Gail Babcock and her husband, Ken of Ottawa, Canada and Scottsdale, AZ; three brothers, Robert Reichenbach and his wife, Janet of Coco Beach, FL, David Reichenbach and his wife, Bobbie of Queensbury, Allen Reichenbach of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Private graveside memorial services with full military honors will be held at Bolton Rural Cemetery, Bolton Landing at the convenience of the family. It was Gunny Sgt. Reichenbach’s request that there be no calling hours scheduled. Memorials may take the form of donations to the Bolton Vol. Fire Dept. or to Bolton EMS.
