Brant Lake: John R. McClure, Jr., 50, of Mill Road, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with his loving family by his side. Born on July 15, 1959 in Glens Falls, he was the son of John and Beverly (Solberger) McClure, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of the Brant Lake area and loved his life in the northeast. In 2001, he married the love of his life, Cathy, the person he was to spend the rest of his life with. They shared many memories with each other and their children. John absolutely loved his job, working for Peckham Materials for 29 years. He looked forward to going to work each day. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed traveling with his family, going on cruises, snowmobiling, and riding his Harley Davidson. He is predeceased by his son, Luke McClure and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Besides his parents, John is survived by his wife, Cathy, of Brant Lake; his daughter, Sarah McClure of Fort Edward; his grandchildren: Nathaniel, Faith, and Tyler McClure, also of Fort Edward; his stepsons: Bradley and Robert West, Jr. of Warrensburg; his sister, Patty Southworth and her husband, Bob of Glens Falls; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on John’s family from 2 to 4 pm, Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 4 pm at the funeral home. Friends are invited to join the family at the Grace House on Hudson Street in Warrensburg following the memorial service for continued fellowship. A private burial will be conducted in the spring. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations toward his grandchildren’s college fund that will be available at any local TD Bank location.
