Obituary of Norma B. McCormick

Glens Falls /Warrensburg: Norma B. McCormick, 86, formerly of Ridge St., Glens Falls, passed way, Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Pines in Glens Falls (Eden Park Nursing Center) following a long illness. Born on July 19, 1922 in Sodus, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Agnes (Nye) Brush. Following graduation from Williamson High School, near Lake Ontario, Norma moved to the Indian Lake area for summer employment. She and her husband moved to Warrensburg after World War II, where she was employed at The Colonial Arms Hotel. Later she worked in the office of A.C. Emerson & Co. of Warrensburg, which was later purchased and became Riverside Gas & Oil, Co. of Chestertown. She retired from Riverside in 1984 with over 20 years of dedicated service. Following her retirement, Norma continued working at the Gift Shop and information center at Fort William Henry in Lake George for many years. Mrs. McCormick attended West Glens Falls Community Chapel, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Walter H. McCormick, and one son, Walter (Butch) McCormick Jr. Survivors include her two sons; Ronald D. McCormick, and his wife, Christine of Ballston Spa, and Thomas H. McCormick, and his wife, Annie of Newport News, Va.; five grandchildren, Lisa Dowen and her husband, Duane and their puppy, Winnie, Wayne McCormick, David McCormick, Judy McCormick and Lonnie Willette; and several cousins. Norma’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Alice Ackary of Warrensburg for her care and compassion shown daily to Norma. Friends may call on Norma’s family from 12-2 pm, Saturday, September 13, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street in Warrensburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2 pm, Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Leonard, Pastor of the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church officiating.
