Obituary of Wilhelmina C. Bartlett

Warrensburg: Wilhelmina C. Bartlett, 87, of Main Street, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born May 4, 1924 in Esperance, she was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Houghtaling) Pierce. She met Andrew L. Bartlett in Rome while working as a housekeeper for Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer at the Rome State School. The couple wed on October 11, 1952 and remained in the Syracuse area until 1966, when they relocated to Warrensburg. Wilhelmina was a devoted housewife and mother and she put a great deal of love and patience into her job. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed watching her special TV shows, listening to country music, playing card games with her children and grandchildren, and hosting family gatherings and birthday parties. Besides her parents, her beloved husband of 36 years passed away in 1988. Her son, Andrew also died before her in 1969. She is also predeceased by her three grandsons: Richard Bartlett, Floyd J. Planty, and Anthony B. Smith; her brother, Merrill Pierce; and son in law, Hial P. Hall III. She is survived by her children: Catherine Needham and her husband, Dale of Warrensburg; Rickie Bartlett and his fiancée, Darcie Carpenter of Warrensburg; Carol Hall of Athol; Joan Hathway and her husband, Bruce of Stony Creek; Gloria Planty and her husband, Floyd of Warrensburg; Cindy Mahler and her husband, James of Warrensburg; Laurie Viele and her husband, Marvin of Warrensburg; and Patricia Bartlett and her companion, Jerry Perry of Warrensburg; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sister in law, Eileen Pierce of Farmingdale, LI, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Wilhelmina’s family from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday at the Warrensburg Cemetery with Nancy Barrow, Pastor of the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Warrensburg EMS, whom the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Steve Emerson and the entire squad for the care given to Wilhelmina when she needed it most.
