Obituary of Vincent D. Nevins

Please share a memory of Vincent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
North Creek: Vincent D. Nevins, 85, of State Route 8, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. The lifetime of love created by Paula & Vincent was evident through the support of friends & family alike during his final days. This love was the driving force that spoke to his son & daughter in-law guiding them to do whatever was necessary, including their 24 hour care, to bring dad home to rest. Born June 21, 1933 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Daniel and Lelah Nevins. Vince was a lifelong resident of the area. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until his discharge in 1955. He was a faithful employee for the Town of Johnsburg for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. During the winter of 68-69 he combined two pieces of equipment, not previously used together, making some of the local roads passable again during the winter months. Family and friends were at the top of his list. If possible, he would do anything for anyone. No morning would be complete without having coffee with his brother & his sister enabled his love of shopping for new & different things. Vincent and his family were also members of the Blue Mountain Lake Club where they spent many years making wonderful memories with several generations of the family. In Vincent’s spare time he enjoyed collecting metals, cutting wood with his son and tinkering on his many lifelong projects. No boulder was too much of a challenge to him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Paula (Mosher); his three children, Cindy Lou, Vincent Nevins and his wife Debbie (Dunkley) and Laura Nevins and her companion Jim Colson. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Shawn Nevins and Megan Nevins and her companion Alex Mitchell. As well as his brother Lowell Nevins and his wife Jane, his sister Arlene Ordway and her husband Willie as well as their extended families. Vincent’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to Ellen Deprey PA. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be sent to the Sodom Community Church. They also request, in honor of Vincent, that one should take the time to pay it forward. At Vince’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 12:00, Friday, May 24th, at Bates Cemetery, Route 8, Johnsburg. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guest book and condolences.
