Obituary of Lois A. Montfort

Johnsburg: Lois A. Montfort, 63, a lifelong resident of Johnsburg, passed away, Monday, December 28, 2009 at her home following a courageous battle with COPD. Born March 31, 1946 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Louise (Millington) Clardy and the eldest of five children. Lois served her county for 22 years. Beginning as a Warren Co. Motor Vehicle Clerk for eight years and as the Warren County Democratic Election Commissioner for 14 years. Lois was a lifelong member of the NYS Election Commissioners Association. She was a Democratic Committee member for the Town of Johnsburg, Warren County and the NYS Democratic Committee for 30 years. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling, badminton, and playing softball with her family. Lois was a loving and dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt who truly enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She leaves behind her husband of 30 years, Bill Montfort of Johnsburg; her six children, Tammy Ferin and her husband, Rob of Wappingers Falls, John Harris and his wife, Trina of Medford, OR, Debbie Bearor and her husband, Matthew of Queensbury, Margie Montfort and Nora Balfour of Ithaca, Nancy Montfort and her husband, Andrew Ribbot of Burlington Flats, and Lori Montfort of New York City; her brother, Bob Clardy and his wife, Joyce of Johnsburg; her sisters, Rose Lamy and her husband, Fred of Warrensburg, Margaret Savage of Warrensburg, and Donna LaVergne and her husband, Bob of Johnsburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Victoria, Johnny, Eric, Brandon, Payton, Maya, Griffin, Nicholas, Zachary, Cielo; and one great-grandchild, Aiden. Friends may call on Lois’ family from 2-4 pm Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 4 pm Sunday at the funeral home with Sister Linda Hogan of St. Cecilia's RC Church in Warrensburg officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, COPD Foundation, 75 Francis St., Boston, MA 02115.
