Harold E. Meade, 54, of State Route 8, affectionately known as Chief, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous and colorful battle with cancer.
Born September 10, 1957 in Glens Falls, Harold was a lifelong resident of the Igerna area.
He was a logger by trade and loved working in the woods his entire life.
Harold was a longtime member and past chief of the Pottersville Vol. Fire Co.
He was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed time spent with his family, friends and his lab, CJ during many hunting seasons at the Opalescent Club in Newcomb.
Harold was well known for his cooking abilities, making good use of his smoker, treating his many friends to mouth watering barbecue with his Chief’s Mobile Pig Roast.
At Harold’s request, there are no calling hours, funeral services or formal obituary.
Services will be conducted privately in the spring at the convenience of the family.
Family and friends will be gathering to share fond memories and partake in a feast in his memory at 2 pm Saturday, January 7th at Sporty’s Iron Duke Saloon in Minerva; where all are welcome.
Those closest to Harold extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at the Glens Falls Hospital, especially Tower 2 and Oncology Department at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center.
