Obituary of Arline F. Goodwin

Warrensburg: Arline F. Goodwin, 95, of Keyes Street, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Westmount Health Care Facility following a brief illness. Born August 9, 1919 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Weber) Foeller. Most of her young life was spent in Richmond Hill, Queens, and she was a 1937 graduate from Jamaica High School in Jamaica, New York. She married Howard N. Goodwin on December 29, 1940 in Queens, NY. The couple enjoyed 50 blissful years together until his passing on June 13, 1991. Arline and Howard resided in Baldwin, NY until relocating to Warrensburg upon his retirement in 1978. She was employed by Reid Chevrolet for several years as a bookkeeper prior to giving birth to her daughter, Anita. Arline returned to the workforce later in life as a bookkeeper in the construction industry. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed cooking, baking, boating and fishing with her family, and even learning to ride a motorcycle, her last ride on two wheels at the ripe age of 89. Arline was always ready and eager to join in activities and try new things whenever the opportunity presented itself. Besides her parents and beloved husband, Howard, she is predeceased by her two sisters, Marion Coffey and Dorothy Tisdale. She is survived by her daughter, Anita Locke and her husband, David of Chestertown; grandchildren: Andrew Humenick and his wife Kelaine of Hollywood, MD; Gregory Humenick, currently serving his country with the U.S. Army in Seoul, South Korea; one great-grandchild, James Humenick; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Arline’s family from 3 to 6 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 10 am, Friday, at the funeral home with Sister Linda Hogan, Parish Life Director of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, officiating.
