Obituary of George R. Pavelich

Warrensburg: George R. Pavelich, 79, formerly of Pine Tree Lane, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 at Heritage Commons Nursing Home in Ticonderoga. Born February 5, 1936 in Plattsburg, he was the son of the late George R. and Mary Jane (Bryant) Pavelich. At the age of eight, George quickly became a world traveler, spending time in Germany and Japan, as his father was transferred in the Army. He later became a chef alongside his father, and was employed by several area establishments, including Roaring Brook Ranch. He considered the Kenyon family as his own, as Elaine took him under her wing. Known as “Junior” to them, George appreciated the special bond created with Rick, Janice, Pam, David, Jackie, John, Doug, and Ray. He adored his wife, Beverly (Squires) Pavelich, together the couple enjoyed playing cards and spending time at camp with their nieces. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by the love of his life, Beverly, and his brothers, Peter and Roy Pavelich. He is survived by his sisters, Peggy Furnia of AZ and Sally Hobby of VA; brothers-in-law, Rudy and Jerry Squires; nieces and nephews, Jill (Leon) Galusha, Mike (Jen) Squires, Ray (Lori) Durkin, Roger (Shelly) Durkin, Tina (Bob) Durkin, Dana (Greg) Russell, Darcy (Neil) DuFresne, and Jerry R. Squires. He also leaves behind a special great-niece, Bethaney Galusha, and several extended family members and close friends. Friends may call on George’s family from 5 to 6 pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
