Obituary of Louise E. Hayes

Warrensburg: Louise Hayes, 90, of Cloverleaf Dr., passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born August 17, 1924 at her family’s home in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Jessie (Carpenter) Wilsey. Louise was a lifelong resident who graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 1942 before continuing her education at Mildred-Elley, School of Business. She was employed by Warrensburg Pulp & Paper and Sandy Hill Corp. Iron & Brass Works. From 1981 to 1989 for worked for Adirondack Scenic as their bookkeeper. Louise married Millard F. Hayes, Jr. in 1955 at the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church; the couple spent 33 years together before his passing in 1988. Together, they spent several years traveling the world for business affairs. Besides spending time with her family, she was an avid Yankee fan, who enjoyed gardening, reading, and watching HGTV with her devoted pitbull, Roxy. She was a 70 year member of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church, as well as the Eastern Star for over 50 years, a volunteer at the Glens Falls Hospital Guild for 40 years; she was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years. In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her husband, Millard, her sisters, June Wilsey and Joyce MacClelland, brothers, James and Harold Wilsey, and niece, Victoria Wilsey. She is survived by her son, George Hayes and his wife, Laura, of Warrensburg; two grandchildren, Jacob Hayes and his significant other, Crystal, and Caitlyn Hayes and her fiancé, Marc; a brother, Robert Wilsey and his wife, Marcia; and sisters-in-law, Ann and Audrey Wilsey. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Louise’s family from 4 to 7 pm, Monday, October 6, 2014 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11 am, Tuesday, at the First United Methodist Church, 3890 Main St., Warrensburg with her niece, Rev. Nancy Barrow, close friend, Rev. Annette Vredenburg, and Pastor Steve Andrews, officiating. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Louise’s memory to the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
