Warrensburg:
Ricky F. “Stubby” Olden, 56, of Alden Avenue, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 26, 2010 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 13, 1954 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Doris P. (Baker) Olden of Warrensburg, and the late Frank Olden.
He was a lifelong resident of the area.
He met Carrie Reynolds through mutual friends on a double date that eventually led to their marriage on August 26, 1978.
He began his working career working with his father at the family sawmill, F.R. Olden & Son’s in Warrensburg. Eventually, he began working construction and founded R&J Construction with his son, Jami in 1998. The father and son team often worked with land developers in Saratoga and Warren counties. He continued working with his son up until the very end, when his illness would no longer allow him to do so.
When Ricky wasn’t working, he could be found vacationing with his family in York Beach, ME.
Besides his father, Frank, he is predeceased by his infant sister, Jodi Olden.
In addition to his mother, Doris, Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Carrie Olden of Warrensburg; his two sons, Jami Olden of Warrensburg; Kori Olden and his wife, Kirsten of Warrensburg; his daughter, Christy Olden and her companion, E. J. Harrington, also of Warrensburg. He also leaves behind his brothers, Larry and Todd Olden of Warrensburg; his sister’s, Gina Wolfe of North Creek; Debbie Keith and Cheryl Ryder of Warrensburg; his grandchildren: Kaylee and Landon, and Alonah Olden, all of Warrensburg, and Brandon Cummings of Daytona Beach, FL; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
