Warrensburg: Edward Murphy, Sr., 79, of Ashe Drive, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 24, 1937 in White Plains he was the son of the late Harry and Elvira (Rothberger) Murphy. Ed was a tree man with Davey Tree Experts and worked at auto body shops for many years. He also owned and operated Pine Pin Motel in Warrensburg in the 1970’s and Boulevard Convenience Store in “Silver Lake”, East White Plains in the 80’s. He loved the outdoors, and could often be found doing things around his home, visiting with friends and neighbors, and greeting people passing by. He was an opinionated man who loved a good debate. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brothers, Herbert and Richard Murphy, and a nephew, William Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Armida (DeSantis) Murphy of Warrensburg; son, Edward Murphy, Jr. of Warrensburg; grandchildren, Joan “Meda” Murphy of FL and Levi Murphy of Warrensburg; great-grandsons, Nicholas Murphy of Warrensburg and Evan Mason of FL; brother, Harry Murphy of White Plains. He also leaves behind several nieces, and nephews. At Ed’s request there will be no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service will be conducted at a time to be announced in the spring in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Warrensburg. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online condolences and guest book.
