Obituary of Mary E. Millington

CHESTERTOWN:  Mary “Betty” (Bills) Millington, 76 years old of Chestertown, NY passed away on December 26, 2024 at the Glens Falls Center.

Betty was born on April 29, 1948, in Glens Falls, NY, to the late Emery and Dorothy (King) Bills. She attended Lake George and Warrensburg Schools before leaving to begin working. Betty worked at Westmount Health Facility and as a chambermaid at various local establishments before dedicating herself to being a mother and homemaker. Through mutual friends, Betty met George “Willie” Millington, and the two were married on July 25, 1971, in Maine. Willie 20 years her senior, was the love of her life. The couple nearly celebrated 50 years of marriage, but Willie passed away just two months shy of their milestone anniversary in 2021.

Betty enjoyed spending her free time reading, listening to country music, solving word searches, and collecting elephant and owl memorabilia. Her greatest joy, however, came from being with her family, especially her cherished grandson, Gavin.

Besides her parents and husband, Betty is predeceased by her brothers Herbert and James Bills.

Left to remember Betty is her daughter Jennifer Millington; grandson Gavin Edwards; sister Connie Coulman; nephew Daniel Coulman; niece’s Christina (Todd) Ferguson, Sarah (Eric) Winter, and Stacey (Tom) Lewis; great-niece’s and great-nephew’s Nathan, Sabrina and Rebecca (Reba), Noah, Eli and Easton. Also, her beloved dog, Scrappy, will miss her dearly.
