Obituary of Cheryl Marie York
WARRENSBURG: Cheryl Marie York, 77, of Warrensburg, NY, passed away on November 19, 2024, at the Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs after courageously battling Alzheimer’s disease."
Cheryl was born on March 13, 1947, in Bennington, VT, to the late Robert E. and Elizabeth M. (Roy) Sausville. She attended Bennington Catholic High School, graduating in 1965. On April 15, 1984, Cheryl married the love of her life, Nathan “Bud” York, and together they recently celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Cheryl was a gifted seamstress and the proud owner of her own business, “Sew What,” through which she served many members of the community over the years. She was also a talented singer, leading the local band “Sunrise” during the 1970s and early 1980s. A devoted churchgoer, Cheryl shared her beautiful voice every weekend as part of the choir. She found great joy in gardening, and her yard was always filled with vibrant, blooming flowers.
Besides her parents, Cheryl is preceded in death by a sister Roberta (Dan) Sausville-Devine and son Steven MacJarrett.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Bud York, of Warrensburg; her children, Reigan (Joel) Quintal and Jude (Jeff) Lehman, both of Warrensburg, Tiffany MacJarrett of Saltillo, MS, Laurie (Kevin) Vance of Charlotte, NC, Mark (Danielle) Burke of Greenwich and Timothy Burke of South Glens Falls; her stepchildren, Jarrod York of Greenfield and Carrie York of Great Falls, VA; daughter-in-law Laurie MacJarrett of Pelzer, SC. She is also survived by her sisters, Collette (James) Tate of Rockingham, NC, Sylvia Sausville of Bennington, VT, and Celeste (Jim) Edmunson of West Boyleston, MA; her brother, Tony (Kendi) Sausville of Bennington, VT; and her mother-in-law, Lois York of Warrensburg. Cheryl was a proud grandmother to Julia, Jarek, and Jayna Quintal; Aidan and Kellan Schumaker; Savannah Lehman; Zachary Harrison; Jeremiah MacJarrett; Leigh (Jake) Kenyon; Taylor Burke; Brianna Burke; Sidney York; Rachel York; Eliana York, Farooq, Hajer, Yaser and Lina Alkaram, Michael Murdick and Melissa Shrader. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Brady, Jayce, and Camden Kenyon; Levi York; Remi VanWroten; and Olivia, Liam, and Penelope Kern, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cheryl’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided to Cheryl.
Friends may call on Cheryl’s family from 11am – 1pm, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 3802 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY. A Mass will be celebrated follow visitation at 1pm.
