Johnsburg: Michael Teachout, 63, of Hudson Street, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving family at his side, Friday, March, 9, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born May 5, 1943 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late John and Kathleen (Millar) Teachout. Michael was raised in Galway and graduated from Galway Central High School. He served in the US Army in Vietnam before his honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant. He was employed in the construction and bridge building field for many years. His last employment was with Tioga Construction of Herkimer. Michael was a F&A Mason and Shriner. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and four wheeling. Michael leaves behind his best friend and companion for 29 years and wife of 21 years, Shellie (Patton) Teachout of Johnsburg; three children, Lisa, Michael and Jimmy; two sisters, Shirley Colineri of Florida, Jackie Jancek of Hoosick Falls; brother, John Teachout of Wells; his mother in law, Merle Coulter; father in law, Ted Patton and his wife, Patricia; sister in law, Charlene Wood; three brother in laws, Teddy Patton Jr, Scott Patton and his wife, Ericka, and David Patton and his wife, Laura ; several nieces, nephews and cousins. At Michael’s request, there will be no calling hours and that services be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for children, 516 Crew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396 or to High Peaks Hospice.
