CHESTERTOWN:
Debbie Lee (Paulsen) Way of Chestertown, NY passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 22, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was born on April 8, 1958, in Albany, NY, to the late Howard and Anna C. (Lee) Paulsen. A 1976 graduate of Colonie Central High School, Debbie went on to study respiratory therapy at Hudson Valley Community College. She pursued a career as a respiratory therapist, working in various locations throughout Albany, New Jersey, and the Adirondacks. Two years ago on September 19, 2022, Debbie married the love of her life, Christopher Connell.
Debbie found joy in outdoor activities such as skiing, kayaking, horseback riding, camping, and bike riding.
Besides her parents, Debbie is predeceased by brother-in-law Joseph Levanites and niece Jessica (Paulsen) Fisher.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Christopher Connell; her children, Darren (Janna) Wardell and Mitchell Wardell; her brother, Michael Paulsen; her sisters, Connie (Paulsen) Levanites, Lonna (Daniel) Blais, and Dawn Paulsen; her sister-in-law, Marcia Green; her brother-in-law, Daniel Fuller; her nieces, Lara (Blais) Lavoie and Ashley Paulsen; and her nephews, Niel (Hope) Levanites and Michael W. Paulsen.
A memorial service for Debbie will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 5, 2024, Hadley-Luzerne Wesleyan Church, 445 Lake Ave., Lake Luzerne with Pastor Jason Shambach and assisstant pastor Laurie Smalley officiating.
