Obituary of Violet M. Tennyson

Please share a memory of Violet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

CHESTERTOWN: Violet M. Tennyson, 77 years old, of Stock Farm Road passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 with her loving son at his home.

Born March 28, 1947, in Chestertown, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Tennyson and Mary (Cooper) Tennyson. Violet was the ever loving, endlessly devoted mother to both Charles, Jr. and Jeffery.

Violet graduated from Chestertown High School in 1965 and went on to study at Adirondack Community College. She began working at the Warrenburg Dress Factory and Chestertown General Telephone Company.  Her later career was with the Warren County Department of Public Works for over thirty years until her retirement in 2008.

When her boys were growing up, Violet volunteered as an Assistant Cub Scout Den Mother. Over the years, Violet’s endless compassion and loving heart provided care for many family members and friends in their time of need. In her later years, Violet enjoyed visiting family with her loving husband, going out to eat, hosting and feeding family and friends at “Vi’s B&B”, watching Hallmark movies, and searching for antiques. She also enjoyed watching her adored granddaughters grow up, excel in school, participate in extracurricular activities and countless competitions.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of nearly 52 years, Charles Tennyson, Sr., and her son, Charles Tennyson, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Jeff (Brandy) Tennyson, sisters Marie Wood, Margaret Spinweber, and Carol Beard; brother Marvin Tennyson. She is also survived by many beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, many friends, and two wonderful granddaughters, Samantha and Valerie Tennyson.

The family would like to thank the Moreau Emergency Medical Services and Dr. Cunningham and his attentive staff (Irongate Medical Center) for their outstanding care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Moreau EMS or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Friends may call on Violet’s family from 2-4 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg.
