Obituary of Shawn Harley Clute

POTTERSVILLE:

Shawn Harley Clute, beloved father, brother, cherished pop-pop, and loyal friend, passed away on July 9, 2024 at the age of 56. 

Born on June 26, 1968, he was the son of the late Harley and Ellen Clute.  Shawn grew up in Brant Lake, NY and was a graduate of North Warren Central School.  After high school, he pursued a lifelong career in auto-body repair. 

Shawn had a kind-hearted nature and always found joy in life.  He was an outdoorsman at heart and his love for the Adirondacks was evident.  Through out his life, Shawn enjoyed spending time snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, tending to his chickens and garden, and especially took great pride in “Pop-Pop’s Pumpkin Patch”.  Shawn lived each day to the fullest but above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. 

Besides his parents, Shawn is predeceased by his mother-in-law Linda Culver.

He will be deeply missed by his loving sons, Adam (Kelly) and Joshua (Casey) Clute, their mother Amy McDermott and his adoring granddaughter Charlotte Jane.  Shawn also leaves behind his brothers Daryl (Sue) Clute, Lars (Amy) Clute, Thane (Kathleen) Clute; father-in-law Robert Culver; aunt Susanne (George) Rice; special friend Denise and many extended and cherished family and friends. 

Shawn faced life’s challenges with remarkable courage and optimism, particularly during his battle with cancer.  His positive outlook on life inspired all who knew him.  His love for his family could only be matched by his affection for his small-town community, where he formed lasting friendships. 

In lieu of flowers, his family kindly requests donation be made to: C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 100 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Friends may call on Shawn’s family from 2pm – 4pm, Monday, July 15, 2024 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY. A memorial service will be conducted following visitation at 4pm.
