Obituary of Raymond F. Hensler
Warrensburg:
With heavy hearts, but also with hope in the Lord we must announce that Raymond Francis Hensler passed away at 85 on October 2nd, 2023.
Raymond Francis Hensler, 85 was born on September 26, 1938 in Hempstead, to the late Ivor and Josephine (Kneuer) Hensler.
Ray graduated from Mephan High School in 1958. He was drafted into the Army in December of 1961. Worked with his Family in the Electrical business, then he worked for the telephone company for 30 years.
He was a member of the Jaycees in Warrensburg.
He is a member of the American Legion and was Past Commander and is the Chaplain.
He was very involved with the Boys Scouts of America. He was Scout Master, Assistant Scout Master, Committee chair member, Order of the Arrow, and was on the District training team for many years. He received many awards. He is also a member of the Church of the Holy Cross he was one of the past vestry member.
He has touch and influenced the lives of many young men. Ray was also a certified NRA instructor in the disciplines of rifle, pistol, shotgun, muzzleloader, as well as a certified archery instructor.
Beside his parents, Ray was predeceased by brother’s Charles Hensler and Jack Hensler. His ex-wife Patricia Hensler, also several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Surviving Ray is his children, Son Raymond Hensler and wife, Debbie of Warrensburg, and daughters Kelly Packard Donnell and husband, Eddy of Augusta, Maine, Ann Marie Harris and husband, Richard of Niskayuna, Theresa Douglas and husband, Trevor of Niskayuna, Patricia McKinney and husband, Keith of Warrensburg, Michelle Barlow and husband, Harvey Gordon of Albany. He is beloved Papa to 12 grandchildren, his Brother Jerry Hensler and wife Linda, Sister-in-Laws Patricia Hensler and Doris Hensler, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ray loved his time in Alaska when he was in the Army, enjoy working and learning. He also enjoyed camping, listening and dancing to music and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Family and friends may call on Ray’s family from 4-7 pm, Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Church of the Holy Cross, 3764 Main St., Warrensburg, NY at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2023.
Burial with full military honors at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery will follow.
A reception will be held afterwards back at Church of the Holy Cross.
Memorial donations in Ray’s name can be made to Church of the Holy Cross.
