Obituary of Lena I. Locke

Warrensburg:

Lena I. Locke, 102, of Warrensburg, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Lena was born April 19, 1921, in Warrensburg, the daughter of Frank and Clara Pratt. She was a life-long resident of Warrensburg and received a Proclamation Certificate from the town supervisor on her 102^nd birthday.

Lena was a graduate of Warrensburg Central High School, Class of 1939. She married Thomas Guy Swan June 22, 1939. They were married for 42 years. On October 15, 1985, Lena married H. Keith Locke, of Brockville, Canada. They were married for 17 years.

Lena worked at the local dentist office for 43 years for Dr. Cunningham and Dr. Anthony Muratori. She enjoyed greeting clients and sharing stories. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 4821 of Warrensburg and life member of Queen Village Chapter 825, Order of the Eastern Star.

Lena loved gardening, baking, hosting huge family dinners, picking berries, planting flowers; especially lilies, and crocheting. She created beautiful afghans, pillows, table cloths, and countless doilies. She was a champion lawn bowler in Florida and Canada; winning the Prescott Lawn Bowling competition.

Lena was predeceased by her husbands, Thomas Guy Swan, and H. Keith Locke, her sons, Thomas C. Swan, and Robert C. Swan.

Cherishing her memory include her grandchildren, Thomas F. Swan, AnnMarie Richards, Dr. Robert Swan, Daniel Swan, and step grandchildren, Michael Donato, Brandon Donato, and Tanya May, Daughter-In-Law, Kathleen Swan Burns, twelve great-grandchildren, along with many nephews, nieces and friends.

A private celebration of life and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Those who wish may send a remembrance in her name to a charity of choice.

Lena’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Warrensburg EMS, physicians, nurses and staff at both the Glens Falls Hospital and The Pines Rehabilitation Center.
