Obituary of Donald L. Monroe

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

NORTH CREEK: Donald L. Monroe, aged 75, a resident of North Creek, NY, peacefully passed away after a long illness, while under the care of Elderwood at North Creek, on September 9, 2023

Donald, a proud native of Brant Lake, NY, entered this world on November 10, 1947, to the late Richard and Cora (Raymond) Monroe.  Following the completion of his eighth-grade education, Donald embarked on a meaningful journey, working alongside his father in the woods. His unwavering commitment to his nation led him to serve as a dedicated United States Marine.

Throughout his lifetime, Donald pursued various career paths, but it was in the area of logging that he truly made his mark.  In addition to his formidable work ethic, he also pursued his education goals, eventually earning his GED.  Donald’s legacy will forever be intertwined with his dedication to both his family and his profession as a respected logger.

When not in the woods working, Donald pursued a passion for music as a self-taught guitarist, finding immense joy in melodies of old-time country tunes, with a special affinity for the works of George Jones.  Beyond his musical pursuits, he cherished the tranquility of fishing and the adventure of camping as the serene 13th Lake.

Left to cherish Donald’s memory are his children Bojo J. (Tabitha) Monroe, Ruby R. Smith, Sandra Monroe, Sherry Monroe and Donald (Paula) Hughes; grandchildren Emilee, Jacob, Adam, Andrew, Abbey, Alex, Autum, Darrien, Joseph, Caleb, Liane, and Triston; great-grandchildren Everlee, Jameson and Orlando Joseph; siblings James, Bernie, Burt, Clifford, Arnold (Bambi), Robert, Dorothy Belle, ADA, and Theresa; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
