Pittsboro, NC and North River, NY: Bonnie Ludlow, a resident of Galloway Ridge at Fearrington Village, Pittsboro, NC passed away on August 24, 2023 at the age of 82.  With the help of her hospice team, her husband and close friends, she died peacefully from bile duct cancer at her beloved Adirondack mountain summer home in North River, NY.

Growing up in Summit, NJ, she graduated from Summit High School (1958), and received her BA degree from Elmira College (1962). In 1966 she received her MSW degree from New York University.  She loved her social work profession, especially working with, and on behalf of, children and adolescents.  Among her professional accomplishments was her directorship in the 1970s, in Union County, NJ, of the first of a group of federally funded child abuse programs in the U.S.  After many years in private practice, having worked from the office in her home in Morganville, NJ and finally from her office in Manalapan, NJ, she retired in 2011, moving with her husband to North Carolina. It was there that her life-long spiritual journey ultimately led her to the Society of Friends and to become a member of the Chapel Hill Friends Meeting in 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Burke and Alma Fisher Burke, and her sister Phyllis Burke.

Among the surviving family members are her husband of 57 years, Tom, her son, Jerry, her daughter-in-law, Carrie, and her grand-daughter, Isla (11). Other special family members include her niece, Jennifer Ludlow, her ‘sister’ Joanne Gu, her ‘favorite cousin’ Jean Aston, and her beloved golden doodle, Ronda.
