Obituary of Catherine Zenaida Reid
Pottersville:
Catherine Reid made her peaceful transition, surrounded by friends and family on Saturday, December 10th, 2022, after a brave battle with kidney disease at the age of eighty-five (85).
Catherine was born in Havana Cuba on July 5th, 1938, to parents: Doris Wilson and Edward Murphy. She migrated to Jamaica when she was nine (9) years old. She excelled in school and learned to be a seamstress, she had four beautiful kids then later met Mr. Francis Reid whom she married and had two more (2) beautiful children. She divorced, left Jamaica and became a proud US Citizen on July 12th, 2002.
In 2007 she met the love of her life and soul mate, Christopher Keogan, who she met managing the shoe department and working as an elite seamstress in Hartford Connecticut, together they traveled the country and had wonderful adventures. She came to live with him in Pottersville and resided at “Listovertna” till her transition.
She was a beautiful, smart, talented, passionate, fun-loving soul who had many friends, made on her Tuesday shopping and casino trips. Kitty enjoyed The Red Sox, talking politics, gardening, sewing, making gifts and crafts and shopping! She loved all Holidays, especially Christmas as she loved to decorate. She loved her faith, New Orleans Jazz, Tyler Perry Movies and advising her friends and family. She was extremely generous and supported many causes near and dear to her heart including: The Wounded Warriors, Toys for Tots, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Shriners, American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society and Autism Speaks.
Catherine is predeceased by her husband Francis Reid, soul mate Christopher Keogan & Son Michael McKenzie.
Left to cherish her memories; Her Children: Marvin Clive Bailey, (Blossom)Maureen Bailey , Paula Bailey, Georgia Reid, and Janice Reid Senior (Troy) Marcia McKenzie, Jordana Fleischut and Christopher Keogan Jr. Cousins: Michael, Eddie & Queenie . Best Friend/ Caregiver Vicky Stark In addition to Grandchildren: Kerry-Ann Bailey, Omar Bailey, Latoya Barnett (Wycleff)Jenice Saunders (Reno), Hatania, Roxann, Anma-kay, Renee, Racquel Johnson, Giovanni Peterkin, Kerry-Ann Hogg, Anferne Dyer, Michael McKenzie Jr., Sheri McKenzie, Easton Higgins, Dylan Fleischut, Tyler Fleischut, Natalie Keogan, Chase Keogan, and great grandchild Jude Fleischut, Jaheim Saunders,Torie-lee Clunie, Israel Barnett, Joshua, Luckie, Amir, Azir, Shayian Hall, Agier Bartley, Chamolee Johnson, Aaden Burke, Aariah Burke, Garthrick Mitchell.
There will be a memorial service at “Listoverna" in the spring, when all can gather to honor and commemorate her life and spirit. Then her ashes will be taken back to Jamaica by her daughter Maureen.
