Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
STONEY CREEK: Thomas “Tommy” George Denton, 72, of Stony Creek, NY, son of the late George Denton and Mary (Gardner) Denton, passed peacefully in his sleep on July 19, 2022.
Thomas made his entrance into the world at Glens Falls Hospital on May 23, 1950, and was the eldest of five children. Thomas spent the majority of his life in Johnsburg, NY. As a true Adirondack Man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, his “big boy toys,” and being a part of nature.
He worked at Coleco Industries in Mayfield, NY for many years before finding his passion of being a train operator and mechanic at Magic Forest, where he worked for several years also falling in love with carousels.
Thomas had a passion for his animals, including dogs: Mikey, Gizmo (Moe), Mikey ‘Baby Boo-Hoo’, and Fanny; and his parrot Montana. As well as many other animals throughout his life.
One of his greatest passions was working on anything he could get his hands on. Many referred to him as ‘Tinker Tom’ for his love of fixing anything in need of repair. He would’ve made one hell of a teamster “reigning in all the wild horses” (all the people in his life that he cared for).
Thomas will always be remembered for his kind words, loving hand, and his gift for “shootin’ the shit”.
Besides his parents, Thomas is predeceased by his sister Karen Updike; brother-in-law Bruce Updike; and many close friends.
He is survived by his daughter Renee’ (Bernie) DeHues; stepdaughter Bridget (Jimmy) Farmer; stepson Carl Lewis; sisters Sally Germain and Evelyn (Keith) LaBarge; brother Andrew Denton; sister-in-law Michelle (Frank) Delsignor; nine grandchildren Katrina (Joshua) Sherman, Breanna Shubert, Jacqueline Lynch, Trevor Updike, Charles Updike, Robert Updike, Leah Updike, and Kelsey Updike; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Sherman, Madison Sherman, and Mackenzie Mosher; many cousins, nieces, and nephews, including his closest nephew Bruce (Susan) Updike ll; as well as his best friend’s children, Mike Gordon and Ellie Gordon.
The family would also like to extend deepest gratitude to Leon Bills and Scott Volk.
