Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bakers Mills: Marilyn E. Ross, 84, of Bakers Mills, NY passed away Monday December 6, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Niskayuna, NY following a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family and passed peacefully just minutes after her beloved husband Jim had prayed, asking God to make it an easy parting. Born on June 11, 1937 in Kingston, NY, she was the daughter of the Rev. Dennis W. and Clara (Parker) Osgood. Growing up as a daughter of an Evangelical Pastor, her childhood years were spent in the various communities that her father served from the Catskills to Northern New York to the Green Mountains of Vermont. She was a 1955 graduate and class Valedictorian of Ellenburg Central School. In earlier years, she worked as a bank teller and telephone operator. She retired from the Johnsburg Central School where she was employed as the Guidance Office Secretary and in the Main Office for eleven years. Faith and family were the center of her life. She was a devoted lifelong member of the Wesleyan faith and was a longtime member of the Bakers Mills Wesleyan Church. In the prime of her ministry, she served as Sunday School Superintendent and church music director, directing a small choir and annual Christmas programs. The heart of her ministry was singing and playing piano in worship to her Lord. Her motto, especially later in life was "God is good!" and she would declare it often to whomever she encountered as a testimony of her strong faith in the Lord Jesus, whom she attributed credit for "every good thing". She leaves behind her loving dedicated husband of 54 years James D. Ross (Jim) of Bakers Mills; a beloved daughter and forever friend Amie, a treasured son-in-law Ernie, as well as three adored grandchildren James, Daniel, and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Schenk, all of Niskayuna. She is survived by her sister Evangeline and brother-in-law Harold Grant and her sister-in-law Joan Osgood, as well as many nieces and nephews, whom she held prayerfully in her heart. A Celebration of Life for Marilyn will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm on Saturday January 8th, 2022.
