Obituary of Colton P. Harke
Please share a memory of Colton to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Chestertown:
Colton’s long, hard fought battle ended and he was called home away from illness and pain into the arms of his Grandpa Erwin Howe, Grandpa Sonny Moffitt and Aunt Jennifer Moffitt.
Left to cherish the memory of this brave strong little warrior are his mother, Ellen Moffitt, stepfather, John Parsons, brother Matthew Lanfear, grandmother, Dellie Howe, father Scott Harke, grandfather, Phillip Nicholson, grandmother Bonnie D'Avignon and aunts, uncle and cousins.
This little boy persevered through so much and brought hope and joy to so many including strangers with his unique quirky personality and infectious smile. That smile radiated in his eyes and it was incredible that such a sick child could light up a room like he did.
There will definitely be a hole in many hearts until we are reunited in a place with no illness, pain or sorrow. For being little Colton definitely had a huge personality and presence in this world. He touched so many who followed and rooted him on during his lifelong battle with hypoplastic left heart and numerous other ailments.
The family would like to thank Dr. Porter and the entire staff at the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center for their love and outstanding care during his frequent and lengthy stays there. The compassion shown at his bedside during and after his final moments showed that he was not just a patient but dearly loved by them as well.
We would also like to thank the Ronald McDonald House in Albany and Debbie Emmery Ross for always being a safe haven and extended family. Truly a place of support where strangers bonded over their child's illness and became lifelong friends.
We are also grateful to Glens Falls hospital and Empire Ambulance Squad for stabilizing Colton and transporting him safely to his Albany Med family numerous times.
There will be no public calling hours as the family needs to get through this and grieve privately. There will be a celebration of life ceremony at a later date to share our loss , fond memories and release balloons ( which Colton loved) to heaven for him.
The family will accept donations for any extra expenses and whatever is not needed for those will be donated in Colton’s name to the Child Life Department at AMC and the Ronald McDonald House where he enjoyed a lot of time.
