JOHNSBURG
Edward G. “Ned” Goodman passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the age of 93, at his home in Johnsburg.
Born July 31, 1927 in Johnsburg he was the son of the late James P. and Frances (Shaw) Goodman.
After attending the one room school down the road from his home, Ned went to Johnsburg Central School in North Creek where he enjoyed playing baseball on teams with his brother Phil. They also enjoyed playing town team baseball after Ned served a brief stint in the army. Eventually, Ned and Phil formed the Goodman Brothers partnership where they logged together for many years, evolving from horse teams in the 1940s to skidders in the 1960s before Ned had to retire due to health issues in the mid 1970s.
In his retirement, Ned enjoyed hunting and watching his beloved New York Yankees on television along with spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Ned was predeceased by his sisters and their husbands, Frances (Arthur) Jennings, Kathryn (Charles) Frentzos, Amelia “Middy” (Jack) Huttig and three brothers, John I. Philip D. and James P. Goodman.
He is survived and beloved by many nieces and nephews, and will be particularly missed by Thomas and Helene Goodman of North Creek and Philip and Anna Goodman of Johnsburg.
Due to the pandemic there will be no calling hours at this time. In the spring, Ned will be laid to rest beside his parents and his brothers John and Phil at St. Cecilia’s in Warrensburg.
