Dr. Charles "Chuck" Anton Kasal, journeyed peacefully into heaven, Saturday, May 21, 2016, at his home, surrounded by family and friends, following a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born October 29, 1950 in New Rochelle, he was the son of the late Dr. Ludwig Kasal and Gertrude (Bosse) Kasal.
Chuck attended William E. Cottle Elementary School and Tuckahoe Junior/Senior High Schools, before continuing his education and graduating from SUNY Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, he later earned his Doctorate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas in Austin. After completing post-doctoral work at the University of Southern California, "Chas" was employed by Abbott Laboratories in Irving, as a Biochemist and Principal Scientist, where he worked until his death.
Chuck and his quick wit, compassion, musical talent, jovial nature, and love for his family and friends will be missed.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Emmaline Bosse, and paternal grandparents, Josephine and Ludwig Kasal.
He is survived by his son, Trevor Anton Kasal and wife, Jessica Kasal, of North Richland Hills; former spouse, Cheryl Eikenhorst Kasal, of Bedford; sister Dr. Linda Kasal Fusco and her husband, Benedetto, of Bronxville, N.Y.; a niece, Melissa Jackson Schuler, of Des Plaines, Ill; lifelong and dear friends, Nanci Colangelo of Bronxville, and Ronnie and Beth Birnbaum of Williston; his Abbott Labs family, who loved him dearly; as well as and his pussycat, Chloe.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at 3 pm, Wednesday, June 11, 2016 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville.
In lieu of flowers, Chuck's family has requested that donations be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City or your local no-kill animal shelter.
