Obituary of Emmett L. Pratt

Warrensburg:
Emmett L. Pratt, 97, of Library Avenue, passed away, Monday, December 29, 2008 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on October 11, 1911 in the Town of Bolton, he was the son of the late Elbridge and Eva (Prosser) Pratt.
Emmett served in the US Navy during WW II as an aircraft woodworker. He returned from military service and continued his employment with American Locomotive in Schenectady.
Emmett married Meada Pratt on June 17, 1939 and the couple spent 56 years together before her passing in 1996.
For the majority of his career, Emmett worked at the Warren Co. DPW and with the Town of Warrensburg Highway Department for many years. He enjoyed working with the crews even after his retirement, well into his 80?s.
His favorite pastimes included boating and spending time at his camp on Trout Lake.
Besides his wife and parents, he is also predeceased by his granddaughter, Lisa Cesare and his son in law, Donald Holden.
Survivors include his son; Brian L. Pratt and his wife, Joy of Troy, his two daughters, Barbara Holden, and Lutheria Pratt and her companion, Clifford Parsons both of Warrensburg; four grandchildren, Diana Jaworowsky, Julie and John Dingman and Wendy Tucker; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Emmett?s family anytime after 11 am Friday, January 2, 2009 at his home, 79 Library Ave., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted 11 am, Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the family residence with Rev. Dawn Robbins, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Warrensburg officiating.
Burial will take place in the Warrensburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Warrensburg or to the American Cancer Society.
