Obituary of Gloria T. Baroudi

North Creek: Gloria Teeft Baroudi, 84, of Bird Pond Road, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. The daughter of the late Cedric and Hazel (Brown) Teeft, she was born January 13, 1928 in Kenmore, New York. She was married to the late Joseph Baroudi on March 3, 1946 in Miami, Florida. Gloria was a resident of North Creek for over 65 years where she was for many years the proprietor of the Alpine Motel and Restaurant. She loved the outdoors and the opportunities the Adirondacks gave her for skiing, great games of golf with Phil, boat rides on Lake George and tending to her beautiful flowers. Gloria was an accomplished pianist and during her high school years she wrote the lyrics and the music for her school song. Upon her retirement she became a prolific baker famous for her chocolate cookies, brownies and cakes. Gloria loved to knit and we will forever enjoy the creations made by her loving hands. A lover of Shetland Sheepdogs they were her constant companions. She was well known for her generosity and compassion always willing to help those in need. She was cherished by many and will be dearly missed. Besides her parents and beloved husband, she is predeceased by her sisters, Wanda and Leona and brother, Verner Teeft. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Kaufman of Florida and son, Jack Baroudi of Delaware, their spouses J. Steven Kaufman and Jay Leaning, three grandchildren Faith and Amanda Baroudi-Leaning of Newark, Delaware, Alyssa Kaufman Mack and her spouse David Mack of New York, NY and one great granddaughter Alexis Mack also of New York, NY. She also leaves longtime companion Philip Johnson of Minerva, special daughter Lisa LaFountain of North Creek, and her loving sister Wilma Teeft Kraft of Colorado, many nieces, nephews and their children also survive her. Gloria loved her family and she knew she was well loved. Friends may call on Gloria’s family from 12 to 2 pm, Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, North Creek.
