Wayne P. Webster, 72, of Mountain Avenue passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 28, 1938 in Huletts Landing, he was the son of the late Warren and Blanche (Manell) Webster.
Wayne graduated from Bolton Central School in 1957. Following his graduation, he attended classes at Cobleskill, and AIG Tech, transferring on to Cornell for mechanical engineering and MIT for electrical engineering.
He had a great passion for music and played guitar with the 4 ACES road group throughout his college career. Wayne played for 15 years at numerous locations throughout the North Country. The names of his bands included The Buckaroos, The North Country Trio, and Nightlife.
Wayne owned and operated Webster Mechanical & Electrical for over 40 years and was listed in the Who’s Who in 1985 to 1986.
He attained his private and commercial pilot’s license through Cape Aircraft in Glens Falls.
He enjoyed flying, Bolens tractors, feeding and watching the birds, the daily Post Star puzzles, his garden, and most of all, his children and grandchildren coming for Sunday dinner.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his infant daughter, Baby Webster; his infant sister, Joyce Webster; and brother, Warren Webster, Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Brenda Webster of Warrensburg; his children: Lucinda Rumble and her husband, Otis of Warrensburg; Linda Vaughn of Portland, OR; David Webster of South Glens Falls; and Jennifer Webster of Chestertown; his brother’s: Joseph Webster and his companion, Pam Wittacre of Warrensburg; Phillip Webster and his wife, Sue of Granville; sister-in-law, Debra Leigh of North Creek; brother-in-law, Randy Tracy and his wife, Karen of Woodbine, GA; his grandchildren: Taylor Rumble, Amber Rivers, and Brennan Rivers; and his good friends; Peter Pratt, Mike Leddick, Kathy Barlow-Smith, and Dwayne Rivers; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At Wayne’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am, Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Glens Falls Hospital, Critical Care Unit, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
