Obituary of Elsie M. Fitzgerald

Warrensburg: Elsie M. Fitzgerald, 80, of Orton Drive passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at her home following a brief illness. Born in Newark, NJ on February 6, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Julia (Jacobus) Marshall. Elsie worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company for nearly 35 years until her retirement in 1985. Following her retirement, Elsie and her son, James moved to Warrensburg. She enjoyed sitting by the pool with her friends and family, reading, long rides through the Adirondack’s, apple picking, and bowling in the Special Olympics with her son and granddaughter. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert James Fitzgerald who passed away in 1968, and her sister, Barbara Ruth Commerford. She is survived by her two daughters: Sharon McEvilly and her husband, Martin of East Stroudsburg, PA; Kathleen Unterberger and her husband, Rusty of East Stroudsburg, PA; her son, James M. Fitzgerald of Warrensburg; her grandchildren: Brad, Brian, Randy and Caitlin McEvilly; Julienne, William Jr., and Jacquelyn Wert, all of East Stroudsburg, PA; her great-grandson, Jacob Ryan Armstrong; and niece, Barbara Jane Commerford of Bloomfield, NJ. Friends may call on Elsie’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service to celebrate Elsie’s life will be conducted following the visitation at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Montclair, NJ.
