Obituary of Adelaide W. Walden

Glens Falls: Adelaide W. Walden, 85 of Leonard Street, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, January 21, 2006 at her daughter, Joan’s home in North Creek. Born September 6, 1920 in St. Johnsbury, VT, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Sheltra) West. Adelaide married John A. Walden Sr. on May 3, 1938. The couple resided in Minerva, Tahawus, and raised their family in North Creek. She attended nursing school in Chicago and was a private duty nurse and volunteered with the North Creek Ambulance for many years. Her favorite pastimes included embroidery, dancing, playing cards, attending bluegrass festivals, traveling and wintering in Florida. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s RC Church in Glens Falls. Her husband, John, died on April 18, 1998 after 60 years of marriage. She was the last of 12 siblings and her grandson, Frederick T. Walden also died before her. Survivors include her three daughters, Bernice Edmunds and her husband, Douglas of Glens Falls, Joan Loomis and her husband, Herbert of North Creek, Cora Mae Richards and her husband, Bruce of Tupper Lake; her three sons, Robert Walden of Glens Falls, Frederick Walden and his wife, Sharon of Glens Falls, John Walden Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Spring Hill, FL; five grandsons, ten granddaughters, 32 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on the family from 3:30-5:30 pm Wednesday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral mass to celebrate Adelaide’s life will follow the visitation at 6 pm Wednesday evening at St. Cecilia’s RC Church, Main St., Warrensburg.
