Obituary of Dennis Lee Russell

Johnsburg: Dennis Lee Russell, 50, of Rt. 8, passed away, Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 27, 1956 in Johnsburg, he was the son of Ellen Russell of Mayfield and the late Clarence Russell. Following his high school years, Dennis worked construction and with the Town of Thurman Highway Department. The majority of his life he spent in the woods as a self-employed logger and lumberjack. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked to follow NASCAR. He married Kelly (Hungerford) Russell on October 23, 2004. Besides his father, his sister, Dorothy Morehouse and brother, Howard have both predeceased him. Survivors besides his mother, include his wife, Kelly and her daughters, of Johnsburg; his daughters, Rebecca Lee Russell and Sydney Ladd Russell; his seven siblings, Juanita Sweet and her fiancé, Lee Bartlett of Gloversville, Robert Russell and his wife, Irma of Johnsburg, Theodore Russell and his wife, Bonnie of Northville, Darlene Russell and her husband, William of Johnsburg, Kenneth “Kenny” Russell and his wife, Connie of Chestertown, James Russell and Rosetta Russell both of Mayfield; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call on Dennis’s family from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the Sodom Community Church in Johnsburg. Memorial services will follow the visitation at 7 pm at the church with Pastor Ron Allen and Rev. Robert Herrmann, Pastor of the Thurman Baptist Church officiating.
