Obituary of Ruth E. Smith

Warrensburg: Ruth E. Smith, 90, formerly of Mountain Ave., passed away, Monday morning, August 13, 2007 at the Westmount Health Facility in Queensbury. Born October 14, 1916 in the Town of Chester, she was the daughter of Grant and Pansy (Morehouse) Hill. Ruth was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Chestertown High School in 1936. She went on to attend the Driscilla Beauty School in Glens Falls and was a hairdresser for many years. She married Judson L. Smith on March 4, 1936. The couple were together for 21 years before Judson’s untimely passing on December 5, 1957. Ruth was a member of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church, the 50 plus club, the Pine Tree Home Bureau and the former Stony Creek Grange. Besides her husband, her brother, Royce Hill Sr. also predeceased her. Survivors include her three children, Judson Smith Jr. and his wife, Jennie of Hudson Falls, Grant Smith and his wife, Valerie of Warrensburg, Kyle Marie Graves and her husband and Ruth’s favorite son in law, Benjamin of Glens Falls; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; many step grandchildren and one nephew. Friends may call on Ruth’s family from 6-8 pm today (Tuesday) at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services will be conducted 10 am Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Warrensburg Cemetery.
