Obituary of Betty Ann Porter

North Creek: Betty “Ann” Porter, 93, of Main Street, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Elderwood at North Creek following a brief illness. Born August 15, 1925 in the family homestead on Main Street in North Creek, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Addie (Roblee) Freebern. Ann married Mark “Pat” Porter on June 16, 1951 in North Creek; the couple spent 62 blissful years together. Ann loved her home and took great pride in her family’s history on the property. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Besides her parents and beloved husband, Pat, she is predeceased by her six brothers, Hugh, Hartsle, Henry, Carson, Jay, and Gene Freebern; five sisters, Loretta Freebern, Louise Roblee, Agnes Villeneuve, Mary Cornwall, and Jane Swinton. She is survived by her four sons, Michael Porter of Fairfax, VT, Kevin Porter and his wife, Debbie of Saratoga Springs, Hugh Porter and his wife, Rose of Hampden, ME, and Allen Porter and his wife, Ann of Rochester; a daughter, Loretta Lestrange and her husband, Edward of Brewster; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Ann’s family from 12 to 2 pm, Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 2 pm, at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church, officiating. Spring burial will be conducted in North River Cemetery. Ann would like to personally thank her many good friends including Harry and Nancy Monroe, Robin Freebern, Krista Foos for all their kindness, as well as “Sibby” Lawrence for her cookies and friendship, and of course her best friend, Carol Fitzgerald Dirolf- “Old friends after all these years, through the laughter and tears, still just old friends.” Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Ann’s memory to the Johnsburg EMS, PO Box 413, North Creek, NY 12853.
