Minerva: Patricia A “Patsy” Sullivan, passed away early Saturday morning, March 2, 2019 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born July 24, 1950 in New York City, Patsy was the daughter of Margaret (Clifford) and Jeremiah Sullivan who predeceased her. She is survived by her husband and companion of 40 years, Patrick Strohmeyer; sisters Ellen (Jeffrey) Eager, Norah (Gary) Nicholson and Geri (Petter) Helseth; brothers in law Clifford (Vickie) Strohmeyer, Christopher Strohmeyer and sister in law Margaret (Robert) Licho; cousins, Brother Patrick Moffitt, Rita Greenberg, and Margaret Boyd; several nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends Peggy Morrissey and Mary Muehleck. Patsy graduated from St Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing, received a Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University-Lincoln Center and a Masters in Education from Goddard College. As an RN at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center, Patsy cared for her patients and later worked in research. She enjoyed a second career as an art teacher at Minerva Central School where she shared her passion for art with her students until her retirement in 2010, serving several terms as union president during her tenure. For many years she contributed to her community as a member and chairperson of the Minerva Planning Board. Patsy enjoyed travelling, and held especially fond memories of her trips to visit extended family in Ireland. On many a St Patrick’s Day she could be found in her hometown of New York City celebrating in the company of good friends and family. She enjoyed many happy vacations on Block Island, relaxing afternoons at Minerva Lake, and most of all time spent with family and friends. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm, Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:30 PM Saturday at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Church St., Olmstedville with Fr. Philip Allen, officiating. Rite of committal will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Irishtown in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Minerva Community Scholarship Fund, Gary West, Treasurer 145 West Rd.
