Obituary of Marilyn M. Hayes

Warrensburg: Marilyn M. (Sevits) Hayes, 84, formerly of 66 Elm Street, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 6, 2019 at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility surrounded by her loving family. Born February 11, 1935 in Whitestone, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and May (Schwab) Martzinek. Marilyn attended Nursing School in Burlington, Vermont. During her nursing career, she touched many lives while working at Glens Falls Hospital, Dr. Lawrence’s medical practice, Ft. Hudson Nursing Home, and Warrensburg Central School. Marilyn loved golfing, travel, swimming, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband, Bernard Hayes who passed away in 1975 and youngest daughter, Christine Bain in 2017 as well as her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Jean Martzinek. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Belden and her husband, Tom of Warrensburg, Mary Hayes of Atlanta, Ga; grandchildren, Tom Jr. (Doriene) Belden and Brett (Kate) Belden and 6 great grandchildren; son-in-law Stephen Bain and grandson, Jonathon (Kristen) Bain as well as several nieces and cousins. Friends may call on Marilyn’s family from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon, Friday, at St. Cecilia’s RC Church, 3802 Main St., Warrensburg with Fr. Paul Cox, officiating. Rite of committal will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. Following the grave side service, friends and family are invited back to St. Cecilia’s Hall for a celebration of Marilyn’s life. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Alzheimer’s Foundation at www.alz.org or Fort Hudson Health Care Facility.
