Philip D. Carpenter, 80, of River Road, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Phil was the first born to Edgar and Bertha (Potter) Carpenter on December 22, 1937 and grew up on the family homestead on Potter Brook Road with his seven siblings.
He married Rosalie Cora Mosher on May 25, 1961.
Phil was always the caregiver whether to family, friends, or his neighbors. His first role as a caregiver was shortly after he married Rosalie when his father passed away as the majority of his siblings were still living at home, he took on the role as father, as a prime example of a caring, hardworking man.
He was always known for his incredible work ethic, regularly working from sun up to sun down while at the same time, showing his unconditional love for his pride and joy, his family.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Robert Carpenter and sister, Mary Sweet.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rosalie Carpenter of Warrensburg; two daughters, Cindi Carpenter and Judi Nash and her husband, James; granddaughters, Janelle and Jillian; sister, Ellen Connor and her husband, Tom; brothers, Donald Carpenter and his wife, Donna, Edgar Carpenter and his wife, Sheila, William Carpenter and his wife, Lesley, and Richard Carpenter and his wife, Lisa; brother-in-law, Jack Sweet; sister-in-law’s, Lila Sparks, Gladys Parker, and Adorna Cappello; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and neighbors.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2 pm, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg with Craig Nicholson, officiating.
Friends may call on Phil’s family one hour prior to the service.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to a reception in Phil’s honor at the Thurman Town Hall from 3-6 pm.
His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Coppens, Dr. Gray and staff at Irongate Center as well as High Peaks Hospice for their exceptional care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Thurman Volunteer Fire Department or to High Peaks Hospice.
