Obituary of Etienne Van de Ende

Etienne Van de Ende, 55, affectionately known as “H,” passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born June 5, 1961 in Utrecht, Holland, he was the son of Dolfina “Dollie” (Steijnen) Malm of Amsterdam, Holland and the late John Malm.
He lived in Holland until the age of 6, when his family relocated to Norway for a brief period until relocating to his beloved, Suriname in South America, where he lived for the remainder of his childhood. At the age of 18, he moved to Florida with his family, where he worked and lived for many years.
Eventually he began his employment with the Iron Workers, Local 808 in Florida, and transferred to Local 12 in Albany, where he remained for 12 years, until his retirement in June, 2016.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Millington of Pottersville; his children: Cynthia Van de Ende of Apopka, FL; Jonathan Van de Ende of Titusville, FL; and Gabriel Van de Ende of Pottersville; a step-son, Caleb Millington; his siblings, Olav Malm of Lutz, FL, and Solveig (Malm) Nieuwendam of Lithia, FL; three grandchildren, Kiannah Hyacinthe, Kaleigh Swoape, and Bryan Swoape, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Friends may call on Etienne’s family from 2 to 4 pm, Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 4 pm, at the funeral home.
Etienne’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gaiotti-Grubbs and the staff on Tower 2 at Glens Falls Hospital for the care they provided throughout his illness.
