Obituary of Robert E. Rounds

Warrensburg: Robert E. Rounds, Sr., 70, of South Ave., passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 10, 1945 in Stony Creek, he was the son of the late Clement “Bo” and Edith (Bills) Rounds. Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1963, honorably serving his great country during the Korean Conflict. Following his military discharge Bob was employed by NYS DOT as an equipment operator for 37 years, prior to his early retirement. Bob was not a man to sit idle and enjoyed “puttering” around, whether it be working on a project of his own, or helping others. A self renowned pet-sitter, and dog lover, to not just his own, he also enjoyed playing cards, bird watching, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit and foolishness. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Buck Rounds. He is survived by his children, Robert Rounds, Jr., and his wife, Tammy, of Warrensburg, Missy Rounds of Warrensburg, and Stacey Freebern and her husband, Paul, of Moncks Corner, SC; four grandchildren, Tasha Ingraham, Robert Rounds III, Brendon Rounds, Priscilla “Poopie” Vernum; four great-grandchildren, Evoney, Isabella “Bella”, Lelynd “Buggie”, and Jacob; his siblings, Rose Bunker of CT, Earl Rounds of Schroon Lake, and Wannetta Stephenson and her husband, Kenn, of CT; ex-wife and mother of his son, Kathy Thomas; and best friend and mother of his daughters, Sue Monroe. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Friends may call on Bob’s family from 11 am to 1 pm, Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 1 pm, Saturday, at the funeral home with Rev. James Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
